The Federal Government has promised Nigerians that energy supply will soon become steady and reliable. This is expected to help create more jobs and improve local technology.
The Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, made this promise during the launch of the National Committee on Energy Efficiency, Innovation and Certification (NCEEIC) in Abuja. The committee is led by Hon. Chojioke Emmanuel NwaDavid.
The minister said the committee’s job is to bring together all national energy efficiency policies, encourage the use of renewable energy, and support local innovation in Nigeria.
Nnaji said the launch of the NCEEIC is an important step in Nigeria’s move towards sustainable development. It will help strengthen the country’s energy security and support technology growth under President Tinubu’s government.
He reminded Nigerians that science, innovation, and energy reforms are top priorities for the government, especially for transforming the country, creating jobs, and promoting industrial growth. He said his ministry is working hard to achieve these goals.
The minister also said his ministry has improved the lives of many Nigerians, including those in rural areas. Some of their achievements include pushing the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Bill, expanding research centers, and improving Nigeria’s position in global climate and tech discussions.
The Director General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria, Mustapha Abdullahi, praised the committee. He said its work is an important step towards a clean, affordable, and reliable energy future. He also said it will help create jobs and grow the economy.
The NCEEIC National Coordinator, NwaDavid, promised that the committee will take its job seriously. He said they will work with others to make sure renewable energy and energy efficiency are achieved across the country.
He added that their mission is not just a job, but a purpose. Their goal is to help the energy industry grow, create jobs, lower electricity costs for families, and protect the environment for future generations.
The committee members include Adinma Onochie as Technical Lead, Martins Abebe as Communications Officer, and Kingsley Onochie as Head of Enforcements.
