The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, in collaboration with the Diplomatic Village Clinic, has organized a health and wellness programme for its officers, their families, and members of the Customs Officers’ Wives Association (COWA) in Abuja. The event took place on August 14, 2025.
The initiative, aimed at promoting work–life balance, featured medical check-ups, vision screening, and physical activities such as stretching, table tennis, and other fitness routines.
Speaking at the programme, the Customs Area Controller of the FCT Command, Comptroller Chinwe Aliboh, emphasized that health should be seen as complete well-being, not just the absence of disease. She urged participants to take advantage of the opportunity to safeguard their health.
“This programme is in line with the CGC’s mandate on work–life balance, which seeks not only to ensure that officers are physically and medically fit to carry out their statutory duties effectively but also to help them achieve quality personal lives with their loved ones,” she said.
She further noted that vision and physical fitness are essential aspects of wellness that personnel must prioritize.
On his part, the Director of the Diplomatic Village Clinic, Dr. Chuma Mark’Olex, highlighted the importance of regular medical check-ups and fitness activities, noting that they are critical to sustaining officers’ readiness and performance.
Participants described the programme as timely and beneficial, commending the Customs Service for prioritizing their welfare.
The event also reflects the vision of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, to build a healthier and more motivated workforce through welfare-focused initiatives.
