The StrongTower Specialist Hospital and Fertility Centre, Lagos state, has reiterated its commitment to humanitarian service with its ‘Giveback Initiative’ worth N120 million to support individuals and couples longing for the gift of children.

The Medical Director of the hospital, Dr Ademola Ayodele made this known during his 60th birthday celebration on Monday in Lagos.

Ayodele, also a Consultant Gynecologist and Obstetrician, decried that many families were faced with the challenge of infertility.

He said the joy of most marriages depended on their ability to have children.

Ayodele, therefore, announced his willingness to offer free Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) treatments to 60 patients, and 50 per cent discount on In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) to another 60 patients over the next six months.

According to him, the initiative is aimed at making fertility treatment more accessible and affordable, especially for those who may have struggled to access care due to financial constraints.

“In thanksgiving, I am delighted to announce a special ‘Giveback Initiative’ to support individuals and couples longing for the gift of children.

“Over the next six months, I will be offering free IUI treatments to 60 patients, and 50 per cent discount on IVF for another 60 patients.

“This initiative is aimed at making fertility treatment more accessible and affordable, especially for those who may have struggled to access care due to financial constraints. It is my humble way of giving back  a seed of hope and possibility, sown in faith and gratitude.

“For cost breakdown of the initiative; IUI: ₦500,000 per patient × 60 patients = ₦30,000,000. IVF: 50 per cent of ₦3,000,000 per cycle = ₦1,500,000 × 60 patients = ₦90,000,000. Total estimated cost: ₦30,000,000 + ₦90,000,000 = ₦120,000,000.

“So, this ₦120 million giveback is a seed of hope, a gift of love and possibility offered in thanksgiving to God who has done exceedingly more than I could ever ask or imagine.

“A small token compared to the countless ways God has shown up for me and my family,” Ayodele said.

The event featured a presentation on fertility tagged “Be Fruitful and Multiple”, where Ayodele identified ignorance, poverty, quackery and confusion as major problems limiting some couples from having children.

He explained that the four major criteria for pregnancy were the Egg, Sperm, Passage/Route and the Womb (Soil).

Ayodele noted that the solutions to infertility problem were cost effective and justifiable tests, counselling, timed coitus, luteal support, IUI variants, IVF and surrogacy/Uterine Transplant.

Also speaking, a Surgeon, Dr Olasehinde Mathew, expressed his best wishes to Ayodele, describing him as a ‘wonderful friend for many years”

Mathew said, “Ayodele is a great and passionate man.

“He is a brother from another mother; we have been together for over a decade, if not two decades and it has always been a wonderful moment.

“Today, as he clocks 60, we thank God. There’s bound to be challenges; about three years ago, the devil wanted to claim his life; when he was involved in an accident. We were in the theatre for almost 11 hours.

“I am happy the celebrant survived the surgery, so, I wish him long life and more blessings.”

Speaking, the celebrant’s daughter, Dr Ayodele Favour, described her father as a man who has passion for his profession, wishing him many more years on earth.

Favour, also a gynecologist, identified change of mindset as key to overcoming the problem of infertility.

According to her, people need to change the mindset that infertility is ‘a spiritual thing’ or caused by the woman counterpart in most marriages.

“There’s need to change the mindset, stigma, beliefs and misconceptions surrounding infertility.

“The belief that woman is always the cause of infertility in most marriages is wrong because medically, over 50 per cent of infertility issues are caused by the men counterpart,” she said.
