The Governing Council of Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto (UDUS), at its 171st meeting on Wednesday, approved the appointment of Professor Tukur Adamu as the new Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research, Innovation, and Development) for an initial term of two years.
A statement issued on Saturday by the University’s Public Relations Officer, Ismail Yauri, noted that the appointment aligns with the University (Miscellaneous) Provisions Act 1993 (as amended).
Prof. Adamu joined UDUS as a Graduate Assistant in 1989, rising through the ranks to become a Professor in 2005.
Over the years, he has held various academic and administrative positions, including Head of the Department of Biological Sciences, Deputy Dean, and Director of the School of Matriculation Studies.
Until his appointment, he served as the Chairman of the Management Board of UDUS’s Center for Open and Distance Education.
University dismisses three staff members
In a separate development, the university has dismissed three staff members over offenses including sexual harassment, result alteration, and absconding from duty.
The affected individuals were found guilty by the Governing Council during its 171st regular meeting, and their dismissal was in line with the university’s zero-tolerance policy on serious misconduct.
