Burkina Faso has made a groundbreaking stride in the automotive industry by unveiling its first locally assembled electric car brand, ITAOUA. This innovative electric vehicle (EV) is entirely solar-powered and offers an impressive driving range of 330 kilometers with just a 30-minute charge.

What to know about ITAOUA

  • Burkina Faso’s ITAOUA electric vehicle enters the competitive African EV market
  • The ITAOUA EV is 100% electric, solar-powered, and eco-friendly
  • Africa’s EV market projected to reach $15.8 billion in 2024 and $25.4 billion by 2029

The production plant, located in the bustling Ouaga 2000 district, signifies a monumental leap towards sustainable energy and local manufacturing.

The launch of ITAOUA’s electric car is expected to revolutionize Burkina Faso’s economy, fostering advancements in green technology and automotive production.

It is poised to create thousands of jobs across various sectors, from manufacturing to sales and maintenance, while stimulating other industries, such as renewable energy and infrastructure.

This landmark project aligns with the global shift towards cleaner energy alternatives, positioning Burkina Faso as a key player in the electric vehicle market.

The development also highlights the country’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and promoting economic growth through innovation.

The ITAOUA car marks not only a significant achievement for Burkina Faso but also an inspiring step for other African nations looking to harness local potential and drive sustainable progress.
