ASHENEWS reports that the Wife of the President, Oluremi Tinubu, has disclosed that she paid a visit to the two former Nigerian leaders, General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida and General Abdulsalami Abubakar, at their residences in Minna on Tuesday to show them that she and her husband respect their contributions to the development of the country.

According to her, the duo has been sources of support to her family adding that the visit is also to get their views on how far the Tinubu’s administration had fared so far.

Tinubu made the explanations at two different occasions; at Abdulsalami’s residence when she visited him and at the Government House, when she paid a visit to the Governor,  Umaru Mohammed Bago.

“Today is quiet an unusual day. We plan the visit to come to see our fathers. All the while we talk on the phone, whatever we are doing in Abuja will not be complete with me not coming to Minna to pay my respect.

“They are people who have known me from my tender age and for God to have given this blessing to my family, I owe them tge duty to come and greet them and find out from them how far are we faring. So that we can get some advice and to check on them as well because they are the patriarchs of this great land”, she said at the Government House.

“This is a private visit. I haven’t seen Daddy and mummy for a long time. We did not make it here when we were campaigning. So it is rude for us to only be talking to them on the phone. From where I am coming from it is not respectful. It is only right for a Nigerian who has proper upbringing to come and greet them.

“It is right for me to come here and greet them because they are the fathers of our nation, the patriarchs of this great nation, it is good for us to pay our respect. It is nothing political, it is just respect from me and Hajiya Shetimma. That is why we do not have any entourage like Governors’ wives accompanying us. It is a private visit”, Tinubu said at Abdulsalami’s residence
