Niger state government is set to witness a major transformation in its healthcare system, as Governor Mohammed Bago forges a new partnership with the prestigious Montefiore Medical Centre in New York.

This collaboration aims to bring direct technical assistance, advanced medical training, and cutting-edge healthcare innovations to the state, improving both access and the quality of care available to citizens.

The Governor’s Special Adviser on Digital Media and Strategy, Abdullberqy Usman Ebbo, shared details of the partnership in Minna, emphasizing the state government’s commitment to elevating healthcare services through international collaborations.

With support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the partnership will focus on improving healthcare infrastructure, expanding access to advanced technologies, and enhancing human resources across the health sector.

During a visit to Montefiore Medical Centre’s headquarters in New York, Governor Bago met with Dr. Philip Ozuah, a Nigerian physician and President and CEO of Montefiore Medicine.

Dr. Ozuah is renowned for his work in expanding healthcare access for underserved communities and fostering innovations in medicine and science.

Montefiore Medicine is a global leader in academic health systems, overseeing 13 hospitals, 300 outpatient sites, and handling 7.5 million patient encounters annually.

It employs 10,000 doctors and 53,000 healthcare professionals.

This partnership is expected to pave the way for world-class medical training programs for Niger State professionals and provide the local population with improved healthcare services.

“This collaboration is a game-changer for Niger State. Our healthcare professionals will receive top-tier training, and the people of Niger will experience unprecedented access to quality healthcare,” Ebbo stated, stressing the long-term impact of this international collaboration.

He highlighted the exceptional reputation of Montefiore Medicine in pioneering medical research, patient care, and public health advancements.
