ASHENEWS reports that Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has donated N50 million to Command Science Secondary School, Girls, Goru.
Idris announced the donation at the graduation ceremony of the school this Saturday.
He explained that the gesture was necessary to assist the institution in tackling its immediate problems, paving the way for effective learning in a conducive environment for students and teachers.
After assessing the infrastructure in the Command school, the Kebbi Governor informed the school authorities that his administration would offer a helping hand in refurbishing some of the structures.
He made it clear that educational matters were a collective responsibility, not for the government alone to handle.

“Education is the responsibility of all, not only the government; parents will also have to contribute for the benefit of their children and wards.”
Idris noticed the small number of students studying in the school, promising to join hands with the 21 Sole Administrators of the state to sponsor about 60 students to enroll in the school to increase intake.
The governor reiterated the commitment of his administration to improving the education sector of Kebbi.
“My administration is giving free education; we have paid for NECO and WAEC, paid N2 billion for students studying in tertiary institutions, and paid N723 million for our foreign students in India, Egypt, and Cyprus to offset their school fees.
“My administration has invested over 10 billion naira in the education sector within one year,” he averred.
The Commandant of the school, Major B. Fatai, expressed gratitude for the physical presence of Comrade Nasir Idris at the graduation ceremony, hoping that the governor, among other requests of the school, would help to mobilize for more admissions from the 21 LGAs to increase the population of students.
Major Fatai also appealed to the governor to intervene in the structural repairs of the school to make learning more conducive for students.
She called on commissioners and other government officials to continue to motivate and encourage the educational pursuits of students.

To the graduating students, Major Fatai congratulated them and admonished them to be good ambassadors. “You represent the future leaders, innovators, and change-makers of our world.”
She applauded the graduands for their dedication, hard work, perseverance, and commitment to excellence, as well as their willingness to take risks.
