The Sultan of Sokoto and Chairman of the National Traditional Rulers Council of Nigeria (NTRCN), Muhammad Abubakar, has congratulated the new Olubadan of Ibadan Land, Oba Owolabi Olakunlehin, on his coronation and presentation of the Staff of Office by the Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, on Friday, July 12, 2024.

Sultan Abubakar, who also serves as President General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), acknowledged Ibadan as a historically significant kingdom of warriors and hospitable people.

He emphasized the importance of successive royal leadership in maintaining the kingdom’s growth and development and expressed his conviction that Oba Olakunlehin is well-suited for the throne at this time.

He praised Governor Seyi Makinde for his ongoing respect for traditional institutions, ensuring that any actions taken by his government regarding such matters are beyond reproach and capable of winning the people’s hearts as traditions demand.
