ASHENEWS reports that the Minister of Youth Development, Dr Jamila Bio Ibrahim has disclosed that the federal government is set to empower 5,000 members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) with N10 million each for entrepreneurial ventures upon completion of their service.

The Minister stated this during her visit to the NYSC temporary Orientation Camp in Paikoro, Niger state.

“In line with this, we are introducing significant reforms to the NYSC program, integrating skills development and entrepreneurship into your service year. These changes are designed to make your NYSC experience a period of national service and a time to gain valuable skills and knowledge.

” Embracing these reforms will make your service year more impactful and economically beneficial, equipping you with the tools for professional and personal advancement”, she stated.

She also disclosed that the federal government have restructured Nigerian Youth Investment Fund (NYIF) and the initiative will start accepting applications in July.

“The restructured Nigerian Youth Investment Fund (NYIF) will start accepting applications this month. This follows our dedicated efforts to simplify the application process, enabling more young entrepreneurs to access financial support for their innovative ideas.

“The NYIF is committed to fostering entrepreneurial spirit, providing essential resources to help transform your business visions into reality, contributing to job creation and economic growth.

“Recognizing the need for practical skills in today’s competitive economy, we are also launching the National Youth Skills Program (NYSP) this month. This program aims to train over one million young Nigerians across diverse fields such as technology. agriculture, and more.”, she said.

She encouraged the youths to seize the opportunities being made available by the federal government pointing that the skills acquired now will be the cornerstone of their future success.

“Utilize these initiatives to bring your business ideas to life, engage fully with the NYSP to gain new competencies, and embrace your NYSC year to develop a well-rounded skill set,” she stated
