ASHENEWS reports that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) says it is set to establish LPG Micro filling plants in Niger state.

The project according to the NNPCL is aimed at making the use of gas accessible and affordable, especially for rural communities.

Speaking while receiving Certificates of Occupancy (C of O) from the Niger state government, the Senior Officer, LPG Micro distribution, NNPC Ltd, Muhammad Baba said that the company will construct 50 units of the filling plants in Niger state.

Across Nigeria, the NNPCL is planning to build 3,000 units of filling plants in total.

Giving further insights into the project, Baba explained that each of the units would have a storage capacity of about one metric ton of gas and would be established in a 20 ft container, powered by solar.

He further announced plans by the NNPC to establish CNG Truck Parks along with some complimentary facilities in Niger state.

This, according to him is aimed at addressing the indiscriminate parking of trucks on the roadside.

In his remarks, the governor of Niger state, Umaru Bago lauded the NNPCL’s efforts at accelerating the country’s transition from fossil fuel to clean and affordable energy.

The Niger state governor who reiterated his administration’s commitment to clean and renewable energy through a green economy expressed confidence that the collaboration with the NNPC on the filling plant’s project will further assist in checkmating deforestation.

On the proposed establishment of Truck Parks in the State by the NNPC, Bago advocated synergy between the NNPC and the Niger State Government for effective service delivery and to avoid duplication of projects as the State has plans to invest in trailer parks.

This online platform reports that the maiden LPG plant was launched in Nasarawa state by the NNPCL in April.
