Former Nigerian Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has told President Bola Tinubu to note that basic commodities, including a simple stapple – bread, are becoming out of reach for average Nigerians. He says Tinubu’s “economic policies, drawn from a so-called renewed hope agenda, are ironically dashing hopes, creating pain and causing despair.”

According to him, “it is inconceivable for the Federal Government to take a loan of $3.3 billion with an interest rate that is not more than 12 per cent, but with estimated repayment amounting to $12 billion”, adding that it is also that “Nigeria’s current Barrels Produced Daily (BPD) is 1.38 million, and according to the Project Gazelle deal, Nigeria is to supply 90,000 Barrels of its daily production, starting from 2024 till it is up to 164.25 million barrels for the repayment of the loan.”

Someone asked me what I would do if I lost my election petition appeal at the Supreme Court. In response, I said that as long as Nigeria wins, the struggle would have been worth the while. By that, I meant that the bigger loss would not be mine but Nigeria’s if the Supreme Court legitimizes illegality, including forgery, identity theft, and perjury.
