Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wammako (APC, Sokoto Central) has donated a newly constructed office complex to the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) in Sokoto, reaffirming his commitment to strengthening technical and vocational education in Nigeria.
The facility, which was officially handed over on his behalf by the Minister of State for Works, Bello Goronyo, is designed to enhance the operational efficiency of NABTEB and improve service delivery across Sokoto and neighbouring states.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Senator Wammako said the gesture aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and Governor Ahmed Aliyu’s Smart Agenda, which both prioritise human capital development, youth empowerment, and quality education.
He stressed that vocational and technical education remains a critical pillar for national progress, adding that Nigeria must invest in practical skill development to tackle unemployment and promote innovation.
“The future of our nation depends on our ability to equip young people with technical and entrepreneurial skills. This project is part of my modest contribution toward achieving that goal,” Wammako said.
The Registrar and Chief Executive of NABTEB, Prof. Aminu Muhammad Aminu, commended the senator for what he described as a “historic and visionary” intervention.
He said the new complex would significantly improve the board’s administrative capacity in the region, enabling faster processing of examinations, results, and candidate services.
“Senator Wammako’s gesture has set a standard for public service support to education. This complex will go a long way in easing our operations and bringing NABTEB services closer to the people,” Aminu noted.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Ambassador Sahabi Isa Gada, the Deputy Speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, and the Deputy Speaker of the Gombe State House of Assembly.
The newly inaugurated complex is expected to serve as a regional hub for NABTEB’s activities, providing a conducive environment for staff and improved coordination of technical and vocational examinations in the Northwest zone.
