The National Universities Commission (NUC) has fully accredited 28 academic programmes for Zamfara State University, Talata-Mafara, including nine science-based courses. The accreditation exercise, a statement by the University management, said took place between February 16 and 26, 2025.
The university’s science faculty received a major boost as nine of its science-related programmes were accredited. These include:
BSc. Computer Science
BSc. Biology
BSc. Geology
BSc. Electronics
BNSc. Nursing Science
BSc. Public Health
BSc. Physiotherapy
BSc. Human Nutrition and Dietetics
BSc. Environmental Health Science
This achievement reflects the institution’s growing capacity to deliver quality science and health education aligned with national standards.
In total, 20 programmes received full accreditation, while 8 earned interim accreditation. The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Yahya A. Zakari, speaking on behalf of the Management and Senate, expressed satisfaction with the outcome.
“This is a testament to the university’s commitment to academic excellence and quality education,” said Prof. Zakari.
In addition to science courses, several programmes in arts, education, and social sciences were accredited. These include:
BSc. Mass Communication
BSc. Economics
BA History and International Studies
BA English
BA Islamic Studies
BEd. Primary Education
BEd. Early Childhood Education
The university’s management extended sincere appreciation to the Zamfara State Government for its support in achieving this milestone.
