The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has opened a public review of two important draft policies aimed at boosting Nigeria’s digital economy. These are the Draft Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) Live Events and the Draft Technical Standard for the Nigerian Data Exchange (NGDX).
The review will take place on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at the Digital Economy Complex, NCC Building, Abuja. It is part of NITDA’s Rule-Making Process, which focuses on creating inclusive, sustainable, and globally aligned policies for Nigeria’s digital growth.
The Draft DPI Live Environment is designed to improve e-government services and set up a system that allows public and private organizations to work together in building digital infrastructure nationwide.
The NGDX draft seeks to create a secure and unified framework for data sharing between government and private institutions. This will have a big impact on sectors like finance, healthcare, education, and agriculture.
NITDA explained that the NGDX follows global best practices on data protection, authentication, and privacy. With this, Nigeria hopes to take a leadership role in digital public infrastructure in Africa.
The Director General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, said the agency is committed to involving all stakeholders to make the initiative successful. He stressed that Nigeria’s digital systems must be built with contributions from everyone to ensure strength, innovation, and public trust.
These initiatives are in line with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda. They are also backed by international partners such as the European Union’s Global Gateway initiative, and technical support from countries like Finland, Estonia, Germany, and France.
NITDA has urged all stakeholders to study the draft documents before the review session.
