Research by the Centre of Intellectual Property and Information Technology Law (CIPIT) in Kenya reveals that Africa is home to approximately 2,400 AI firms, with 40% of these being startups. The adoption of AI is revolutionizing key sectors across the continent, including banking, marketing, entertainment, agriculture, education, and healthcare.
Nigeria, boasting over 400 AI firms and startups, is regarded as the heart of Africa’s tech ecosystem.
The country’s robust tech foundation has attracted global tech giants like Google, Microsoft, and Flutterwave, as well as a growing number of international investors.
These partnerships have spurred advancements in AI applications, creating economic opportunities and enhancing service delivery across industries.
Nigeria’s prominence has also drawn the attention of GITEX, the world’s largest technology event.
After its debut in Marrakech, Morocco, GITEX is set to expand its reach by hosting its 2025 edition in Nigeria, cementing the nation’s status as Africa’s largest startup ecosystem.
