MTN Nigeria has presented a N2 million cash gift to a newlywed couple in Lagos under its “Yello Tide” initiative, aimed at spreading festive cheer.

The cheque presentation took place on Saturday in Lagos as part of the company’s “Yellow Season of Surprises,” launched in December.

Speaking at the event, MTN Nigeria’s Chief Digital Officer, Ms Aisha Mumuni, said the initiative was designed to celebrate milestones with Nigerians.

According to her, intending couples were required to nominate themselves for a chance to receive a surprise visit and gift from MTN.

“The initiative is part of our Yellow Season of Surprises. For Yello Tide, we asked couples intending to get married to nominate themselves.

“It is our way of giving back after a long year. After the nominations, we voted on the weddings to attend,” she said.

Mumuni noted that weddings align with MTN’s value of connection, saying there is no deeper bond than two people starting life together.

“It was an honour to attend. I wish Precious and Pelumi the very best in their new life together,” she said.

Responding, the bride, Mrs Precious Babayemi, thanked MTN, saying the funds would support the couple’s planned investments.

“We are grateful to be chosen. This money will go a long way towards our investments,” she said.

The groom, Mr Pelumi Babayemi, described the gift as a boost for their new family.

“We thank MTN for this privilege. It gives us something substantial to start with,” he said.
