President Bola Tinubu has appointed Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah, the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, Kaduna State.
Alongside Bishop Kukah, the President approved the appointment of principal officers for the university, including Prof. Qurix Williams Barnabas – Vice Chancellor; Sanusi Gambo Adamu – Registrar; Ibrahim Dalhat – Bursar; and Prof. Daniel Abubakar – University Librarian.
Additionally, the President named Mr. Thomas Etuh (North Central), Fabian Nwaora (Southeast), Prof. Femi Taiwo (Southwest), and Zarah Bukar (Northeast) as members of the university’s Governing Council.
The appointees were selected based on their distinguished careers, leadership experience, and commitment to advancing education in Nigeria. President Tinubu urged them to leverage their expertise to position the university as a hub for academic excellence and research, in line with his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
As the university prepares to admit its first cohort of students in September 2025, the President emphasized the need for visionary leadership to establish a strong foundation for its future growth.
The Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, was formerly known as Nok University but was renamed following the federal government’s acquisition of its assets.
