Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, on Thursday, attended the 19th Annual Scientific Meeting and All Fellows Congress (ASCAF2025) of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria held at the Conference Centre in Kasarawa, Sokoto.
The high-profile medical gathering brought together professionals from across the country, with the Sultan’s presence underscoring the importance of advancing medical education and research in Nigeria.
Declaring the event open, the Governor of Sokoto State, represented by his Deputy, Idris Muhammad Gobir, reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure and supporting medical research initiatives.
Also in attendance was the President of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria, Professor Peter Ebiegbe, who applauded the state for hosting the congress and reiterated the college’s mission to enhance specialist medical training in the country.
Other dignitaries at the event included the Chief Medical Director of Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital (UDUTH), Dr. Sabir Anas Sokoto, as well as CMDs from across Nigeria, highlighting the national significance of the congress.
The Sultan was accompanied by prominent traditional leaders including the Magajin Rafin Sokoto, Galadiman Garin Sokoto, Sa’in Kilgori (District Head of Kilgori), Ardon Shuni, and others, reflecting the traditional institution’s strong support for the advancement of medical science and education.
ASCAF2025 serves as a platform for postgraduate fellows to share scientific knowledge, discuss emerging challenges in healthcare, and chart a path forward for medical excellence in Nigeria.
