The Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN) has reiterated its dedication to supporting job-seeking female professional engineers through innovative initiatives and partnerships.
Dr. Atinuke Owolabi, Chairman of APWEN’s Lagos Chapter, restated this commitment during a courtesy visit to the Managing Director of Crestech Engineering, Mr. Sobande Gbolahan, on Saturday.
Building on APWEN’s recent efforts, Owolabi revealed that the association had secured three placement slots for female engineers currently undergoing their National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation at the Lagos State camp.
In addition, Crestech Engineering Ltd has agreed to provide automatic employment for these potential corps members, contingent on their performance.

“The visit was aimed at introducing APWEN’s activities and achievements to Crestech while exploring opportunities for support and collaboration,” Owolabi said.
She also announced that APWEN had established a Lagos Mentorship Desk at Crestech’s office, where young engineers could interact with Crestech’s female engineers and gain valuable insights into the company’s operations.
Owolabi further sought Crestech’s support in setting up an Innovation and Resource Hub at the University of Lagos, which she said would significantly enhance job opportunities for female professional engineers.
In response, Crestech’s Managing Director, Mr. Sobande Gbolahan, expressed appreciation for APWEN’s visit and pledged the company’s support for the association’s initiatives. “We are committed to supporting APWEN in any possible way to advance its mission,” he stated.
The collaboration between APWEN and Crestech underscores the association’s resolve to create a thriving professional environment for female engineers while addressing challenges such as unemployment and limited career opportunities.
