Anambra State has emerged as Nigeria’s top performer in digital innovation, winning four awards at the 13th National Council on Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy (NCCIDE).
Mr. Fred Agbata, Managing Director of the Anambra State Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Agency, announced the achievement on Friday in Awka.
The award ceremony, held from Dec. 8 to Dec. 12 in Jos, Plateau State, reviewed national digital progress and explored strategies to drive inclusive digital transformation. The event carried the theme: “Accelerating Inclusive Digital Transformation: Bridging Gaps and Fostering Sustainable Growth Through Innovation.”
Agbata said Anambra clinched the award for Best Overall State in ICT Development and Best State in ICT Human Capital Development. The state also emerged Second Runner-Up in Infrastructure Development and Second Runner-Up in E-Government Implementation.
“This is the second time in recent years that Anambra has won four top awards at the NCCIDE, having achieved a similar feat in 2023. These recognition reflect the digital transformation agenda of Gov. Chukwuma Soludo, whose administration has prioritized broadband expansion, e-governance solutions, and ICT skill development,” he said.
Agbata credited the achievements to the state government’s deliberate policy direction under the ‘Everything Technology, Technology Everywhere’ vision and expressed gratitude for Governor Soludo’s support and leadership in advancing the state’s Smart Mega City agenda.
