The Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered) has called on the government, business leaders, and professionals across the country to quickly adopt new technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, and cloud computing. They believe these tools can help improve innovation, creativity, and productivity in Nigeria’s economy.
The President of the Institute, Commodore Abimbola Ayuba (retired), gave this advice on Monday during the 2025 Annual National Management Conference in Abuja. The theme of the event was “Using Emerging Technologies to Boost Innovation, Creativity and Productivity.”
Ayuba said that technology is now a key part of everyday life and warned that no country or organization can stay competitive unless it invests in digital tools.“Technology is everything,” he said. “Any country or organization that wants to succeed in the future must use new technologies to grow and improve.”
However, he added that for Nigeria to enjoy the full benefits of these innovations, it must create a peaceful and supportive environment. The Institute also encouraged all Nigerians to support the current government’s efforts to move the country forward. They said, “Development cannot happen in a country that is unsafe or unstable.
“In his keynote speech, Michael Egboh said Nigeria has the potential to become a world leader in technology. He mentioned that many Nigerians are already doing well in top tech centers like Silicon Valley and Cambridge.
However, Egboh warned that AI is still not fully understood in many areas. Without proper investment in skilled workers, technology infrastructure, and good data policies, Nigeria could fall behind in the global tech race.
He said, “We need a clear national plan to use AI, blockchain, and cloud technology in areas like health, education, and government. We must invest in people, innovation, and digital systems to boost productivity and cut costs.”
The conference brought together government officials, university experts, and business leaders. The Institute plans to share the conference’s recommendations with the government and other important groups to help push Nigeria’s digital growth.
