Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, on Tuesday declared open the 4th edition of the Nigerian Electronic Media Content Exhibition and Awards (NEMCEA 2025) in Lagos, with a call for sustainable practices in content creation.
Idris described NEMCEA as one of the most influential gatherings in Nigeria’s media space, bringing together content creators, broadcasters, advertisers, regulators, and international partners.
Commending the Electronic Media Content Owners Association of Nigeria (EMCOAN) for its resilience and commitment, the Minister said the annual event has become a platform for celebrating creativity, building partnerships, and finding solutions to industry challenges.
This year’s theme, “Sustainable Content Creation in a Fragmented Media Landscape,” he noted, reflects the realities of today’s media environment, where audiences are dispersed across television, radio, streaming platforms, podcasts, and social media.
“Sustainable content creation must mean more than producing for today — it is about building a media ecosystem that endures, upholds professional standards, reflects our cultural diversity, and contributes to national reorientation,” Idris said.
He added that under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, government is committed to creating an enabling environment for content creators, stressing the importance of collaboration among industry stakeholders to drive innovation, inclusivity, and global competitiveness.
The Minister identified funding, intellectual property protection, digital transition, and global reach as critical areas requiring urgent attention, expressing optimism that NEMCEA 2025 would provide practical solutions.
Idris officially declared the event open, wishing participants successful deliberations and a memorable celebration of Nigeria’s creative ingenuity.
