President Bola Tinubu has opened up about his personal life to emphasize the need for religious tolerance and unity in Nigeria. He revealed that while he remains a devout Muslim, his wife is a Christian pastor.
According to him, despite their differing faiths, the couple lives in harmony without conflict or attempts to change each other’s beliefs, setting an example for Nigerians to rise above religious divisions.
Tinubu spoke at the funeral service of the mother of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman in Jos, Plateau State.
“I was born into Islam and remain a Muslim, while my wife is a pastor. She prays for me, and there has never been any conflict between us. I have never tried to persuade her to convert. We must love one another. Nobody determines what God has ordained. We are praying to the same God and are answerable to Him,” President Tinubu stressed.
He urged religious leaders to trust his administration’s commitment to peace and security, affirming ongoing efforts to combat terrorism, banditry, and farmers-herders clashes across the country. President Tinubu underscored the vital role of leadership in managing religious diversity for the nation’s benefit, encouraging Nigerians to overcome hate and embrace unity.
