A clash between supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Gusau, capital of Zamfara state, has claimed the life of one and 18 other youths hospitalized.
Smarts News reports that dangerous weapons were allegedly used by the supporters against each other.
The deputy governor, Hassan Muhammad Nasiha who visited some of the victims at Ahmad Sani Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital Gusau, described the incident as unfortunate and uncalled for.
He assured that investigation will commence to unravel the circumstances behind the clash in spite of government’s ban on all political gatherings in the state.
Nasiha however maintained that APC supporters are law abiding.
The PDP supporter who was reportedly shot on his leg said, he is diehard supporter of the party’s governorship candidate, Dauda Lawal and would not succumb to any threat.
