“Go back home and speak for your people,” Group tells Oladejo

A socio-political group, Concerned Lagosians, has advised the Lagos State Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Seye Oladejo, to return to his home state, Oyo, and speak for his people instead of meddling in the political affairs of Lagos, particularly those concerning the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The group, in a statement issued on Thursday by its Secretary, Segun Adeyemi, described Oladejo’s recent remarks against ADC chieftain, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, as misplaced and hypocritical.

Adeyemi noted that Oladejo, who was recently installed as Mogaji of his Ibadan family compound, is better positioned to serve the interests of his Oyo people than to assume “a misplaced role as APC spokesperson in Lagos.”

“Oladejo is doing a disservice to his people by abandoning his duty and struggling to meddle in the political affairs of Lagos State indigenes. Go to Ibadan where you rightly belong,” Adeyemi declared.

The group further accused Oladejo of political inconsistency, stressing that he has no moral right to question the political choices of others.

“Go and sit down and think deeply before you accuse anyone else of defections which you and those you idolise are masters of. You should describe yourself, having followed your so-called strategist across multiple parties — AD, AC, ACN, and now APC. Not to mention the cases of anti-party activities which you and your class of political game players have never had the courage to own up to. Before you throw stones, remember not to stay inside a glass house; it will be disastrous,” the statement read.

The group maintained that Rhodes-Vivour has aligned with the collective opposition movement to unseat what it described as “the bad government the APC has inflicted on Nigerians for the past two years,” echoing the rallying cry of O To Ge (Enough is Enough).

It also accused Oladejo of benefiting from what it termed an “accident of state capture,” saying his political career has been built on opportunism rather than merit.

“You have, by accident of state capture, occupied offices in Lagos as Chairman of Mushin Local Government, House of Assembly member, Commissioner, and now APC spokesperson. In a saner clime, you and your co-travellers would have been ordered by the courts to refund all the monies earned unlawfully. The Constitution you swore to upholds the principle that no one can claim double indigeneship.

“So, how are you connected with the democratic decision of Lagosians that the only opposition governorship candidate who truly shook your non-indigenous oligarchy in the last election is still the reason you feel threatened today?” the group queried.

It asked, “”Why is it that a Mogaji that is supposed to focused on the affairs of Ibadan has become the spokesman of a party in Lagos State? You were Chairman Mushin Local Government in a Lagos State that is constitutionally bequeathed to indigenes of Lagos State by way of bringing government closer to the people. You were Commissioner and now has been state Publicity Secretary of All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, knowing that no indigene of Lagos State can be allowed to hold elective position at any level in any other state let alone your own Oyo State. Instead of you to just be grateful and go and focus on your Mogaji tole in Ibadan, what are you doing in Lagos to be struggling with indigenes of the state what constitutionally is their right?

“For the avoidance of doubt, let Oladejo be told that GRV has moved again but not to APC. He has constantly shown his consistency to be against the bad anti-people policies of the ruling party, APC. You should be bothered and ask yourself a question: How is it that GRV has changed parties several times but has never fir once gone to the APC? His consistency is remarkable. Most politicians, when they lose or make names in the opposition, join the ruling party, never GRV, who has been consistently consistent in his appeal, desire and struggle to free Lagos from this blood sucking nepotistic, godfatherism, agberoistic and what have you,” the group said.

It made Seye Oladejo and others in his camp of APC to know that, “Our point of Lagos for Lagos owners is not a pretending idea but real. So, do not think that we will sit down a watch you rubbish anyone of us who has simply embarked on a pathway to achieving what will make our dream of Lagos indigenes emerging as elected governor, deputy governor, speaker, as well as appointed Chief Judge, Secretary to the State Government, Chief of Staff and Chief of Staff to the Governor realistic.”
