The Governor of Adamawa state, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has been declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as winner of the state governorship election.

ASHENEWS recalls that the controversial declaration of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Aisha Dahiru Binani by the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Hudu Yunusa-Ari, on Sunday, generated heated polity, with the Commission suspending the later.

The electoral umpire also on Tuesday, rose from a meeting deciding to write the Inspector General of Police, to investigate the REC, and possibly prosecute him.

Resuming the collation on Tuesday, the Returning Officer, Muhammed Melee, declared incumbent Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party winner after polling 430,861 votes to defeat Binani, who polled 398,788 votes.
