The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has issued a statement clarifying recent claims made by the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) regarding payments for refined petroleum products. According to the refinery, it has not received any direct payments from IPMAN for petrol or other refined products.
In response to reports suggesting that IPMAN members are encountering difficulties accessing refined products from the refinery, Dangote Petroleum Refinery explained that it currently has no direct business arrangements with IPMAN.
The refinery noted that any payments IPMAN members have made were directed through the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and not to the Dangote Refinery itself. Furthermore, the NNPCL has neither authorized nor approved any release of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) from the refinery to IPMAN.

The refinery affirmed its capability to meet Nigeria’s demand for petrol, diesel, and aviation fuel, highlighting that it can load up to 2,900 trucks daily and also supplies products via sea routes. To avoid future misunderstandings, the refinery advised IPMAN to register directly with them and make payments accordingly, ensuring direct access to its products.
In its statement, Dangote Refinery urged stakeholders to avoid unfounded media claims, which it says could undermine the economic policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
The refinery stressed the importance of cooperation and discouraged what it described as “media conflicts and needless propaganda,” advocating instead for a unified approach to advancing Nigeria’s economic goals.
This clarification comes amid heightened scrutiny of Nigeria’s petroleum sector as stakeholders navigate challenges in product distribution and supply.
