“We will not participate in the assassination of justice in a Nigerian court over the head of Nnamdi Kanu. We will refuse to be part of the programmed injustice,” he said.
“It is very true. We have filed the case and it’s going to hold on the 17th of April, 2024. What I cannot confirm is whether he is served or not, but he will definitely be served,” he said.
He was impeached during the House’s plenary session in Benin City, the Edo State capital, in a move that began months ago following the soured relationship between Obaseki and Shaibu.
Godwin Emefiele has specifically asked the court to grant him bail on self-recognizance pending the hearing and determination of his case or in the alternative that he be released to his counsel pending the determination of the case.
Emefiele and his co-defendant pleaded not guilty to the 26-count charge bordering on abuse of office, accepting gratification, accepting gifts through agents, corruption, and fraudulent property receipt.
Emefiele will be arraigned before Justice Rahman Oshodi of the Lagos High Court, Ikeja on Monday, April 8 on counts bordering on accepting gratification, accepting gifts through agents, corruption, receipt of property fraudulently obtained, and conferring corrupt advantage on his associates contrary to the Corrupt Practices Act of 2000.
The suspended Senator representing Bauchi Central, Abdul Ningi, was said to have written to the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio and the Senate leadership, through his lawyer, Femi Falana, SAN, demanding that the suspension placed on him be lifted.
“We will not hesitate to impeach Fubara if it becomes the last resort to uphold the Constitution,” Amaewhule, flanked by 26 of his colleagues said.
He gave Akpabio a 7-day ultimatum to revoke his suspension. He said he would approach the federal high court for his reinstatement if the suspension is not lifted within seven days.
