The member representing Kebbi South Senatorial District, Usman Muhammad Ankwai has been elected as Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly.
The members of the 10th Assembly also elected Samaula Ahmed Bambu, representing Kebbi North as his Deputy.
In a brief ceremony held on Thursday, the Clerk of the House Sulaiman Shamaki swore in the Speaker, shortly after which the Speaker administered the oath of office to the remaining twenty-three members of the House in Birnin Kebbi.
Shamaki described the Speaker as a legislator with an impeccable record of hard work, sincerity, and an enviable Democrat.
Speaking to newsmen after the ceremony, the Speaker promised to work closely with the Executive Arm of Government to bring meaningful development to the state.
He also promised to ensure the autonomy of the legislature.
The House comprises 20 members from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and 4 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
