Nigeria’s Supreme Court has affirmed the victory of Abba Yusuf of the New Nigeria People Party (NNPP) as the Kano State Governor.
Justice John Okoro, of the Supreme Court who read the lead Judgement said the Court of Appeal was wrong in upholding the decision of the tribunal, which held that Yusuf did not win the majority of lawful votes cast at the Governorship Election.
The apex court raised two issues; whether the lower court was right in deducting the 165,616 votes of the governor in determining the case.
