The Zainab Mohammed Bima Initiative (ZMBI) has launched the 2025 edition of its flagship programme, Support a Mother, with a new target to reach 900 women across Niger State.
Speaking at the flag-off event in Minna, the Convener and Founder, Hajiya Zainab Mohammed Bima, said the initiative is driven by a belief that every mother deserves dignity, care, and support throughout the journey of childbirth.
“This year’s edition will reach 900 mothers across Zone A, Zone B, and Zone C of Niger State. It is more than the distribution of maternal kits, it is a gesture of love, solidarity, and collective responsibility.”

Zainab noted that the expansion complements the giant strides of the state Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago and the work of the state’s First Lady, Hajiya Fatima Umaru Bago, whom she praised for their commitment to women, children, and family welfare.
The initiative, which distributes maternal kits and other support items, aims to ease the burden of expectant and new mothers while promoting healthier families and stronger communities.
Zainab also expressed gratitude to partners, stakeholders, and volunteers, whose tireless dedication has made it possible for the project to grow each year.
“To our dear mothers present today, we celebrate you. You are the heartbeat of our communities and the light of our homes. May this modest support ease your journey and remind you that you are deeply cherished,” she added.
The Support a Mother project has been running annually under the ZMB Initiative and has become one of Niger State’s most prominent community-driven efforts to address maternal health challenges.
The Founder then called on more stakeholders to support the initiative, stressing that supporting a mother is supporting humanity.
