The Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, led by Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah, has donated wheelchairs to Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital (UDUTH) in Sokoto.
This donation is part of Bishop Kukah’s ongoing efforts to support the poor, the sick, and those who are often overlooked in society.
The hospital’s Chief Medical Director, Prof. Anas Ahmad Sabir, accepted the donation and warmly welcomed the bishop and his team. He thanked the diocese for the generous and timely support.
Prof. Sabir mentioned that UDUTH has also received help in the past from other notable Nigerians, like Gen. TY Danjuma and Aliko Dangote.
He highlighted that Bishop Kukah’s donation was especially meaningful, showing a deep sense of care and support. It also reflects the Church’s commitment to treating all people with dignity.
Prof. Sabir also spoke about the hospital’s progress in providing quality healthcare. He shared that UDUTH now offers advanced treatments like kidney transplants, heart surgery, and other specialized medical services, making it one of Nigeria’s top hospitals.
Bishop Kukah came with a team that included Revd. Fr. Jude Okpanci (Dean of the Diocese), Sr. Ann OP (Director of Holy Family Mother and Child Hospital), Revd. Fr. Matthew Megwa (Vicar General), Revd. Fr. William Dalogate, and the Director of JDPC Sokoto Diocese, along with other JDPC staff.
The hospital leadership, including Prof. Sabir and the medical board, warmly welcomed the bishop and his team during their visit.
