The Tinubu Media Volunteers (TMV) have commended the new security measures announced by President Bola Tinubu, saying they will decisively tackle Nigeria’s persistent security challenges.
In a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja, TMV Chairman, Chukwudi Enekwechi, and Secretary, Segun Ogedengbe, said the measures marked a significant step toward restructuring the nation’s security architecture.
TMV praised the President’s swift response to recent terrorist attacks, including those at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Papiri, Niger State, and Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, Kebbi State, describing his actions as evidence of firm leadership.
The group said it was particularly impressed that President Tinubu personally supervised the rescue operation for the abducted Kebbi schoolgirls, reflecting his hands-on approach to national security.
TMV also welcomed the President’s directive to the Army and Police to recruit additional personnel to strengthen the fight against terrorism, noting the importance of a well-resourced security system.
The group expressed support for the directive to the Department of State Services (DSS) to deploy forest guards to flush out terrorists hiding in forests across the country.
Enekwechi lauded the President for urging the National Assembly to empower willing states to establish state police, saying it would enhance local security and improve law enforcement effectiveness.
He further welcomed the call for herders’ associations to adopt ranching through the Ministry of Livestock Development, describing it as a sustainable alternative to open grazing that could reduce conflicts.
TMV added that the measures were holistic and, if diligently implemented, would significantly improve security nationwide.
