Niger State government has entered into a formal partnership with Zenith Kidney and Medical Centre to enhance healthcare delivery across the state.
The agreement was sealed at the Council Chamber of Government House, Minna where the state Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago described the initiative as a multi-phase collaboration designed to cover knowledge transfer, professional training, patient referrals, and medical consultancy.
Bago emphasized that the state is deliberately investing in healthcare to tackle the effects of brain drain, which has weakened Nigeria’s medical sector.
Commending the Medical Director of Zenith Kidney and Medical Centre, Dr. Olatise Olalekan, for his dedication to saving lives locally and internationally, the Governor assured him of the state government’s full support toward strengthening the centre’s operations in Niger State.
Olalekan, a consultant nephrologist and transplant physician, noted that Zenith Kidney and Medical Centre which was established in 2011 with a focus on kidney care has expanded its services overtime to include advanced neurology, prostate laser surgery, and general surgery, all delivered at international standards.

He revealed that the centre has successfully carried out over 1,200 kidney transplants including 20 for Niger indigenes and currently performs more than 1,500 dialysis sessions monthly. These achievements, he added, have significantly reduced Nigerians’ dependence on foreign medical tourism for kidney-related treatments.
Beyond clinical services, Olalekan disclosed that the centre is accredited to train postgraduate doctors in nephrology and urology pointing that construction is ongoing for a 250-bed hospital that will provide advanced solid organ transplant services, addressing existing gaps in the nation’s healthcare delivery system.
Applauding the Niger State government’s investments in health infrastructure, Olalekan welcomed the new partnership and pledged that Zenith Kidney and Medical Centre will work closely with the state to ensure lasting improvements in healthcare for the people.
