ASHENEWS reports that the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) says it has shut down a warehouse in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) for harbouring tons of expired and unregistered food products.
The agency stated this in a post made on its official X handle on Friday.
According to the post by NAFDAC, a team from the agency raided the site located in Zone 4, Wuse, Abuja following reports that the facility was preparing to recalibrate and resell the goods.
“The operation extended to a supermarket in Wuse 2, Abuja, where revalidated items from the warehouse were allegedly being sold to unsuspecting consumers.
“Both locations were promptly closed for further investigation. Among the expired items confiscated were Cornitos Crusties Nacho, Chaunky Mango, Mother’s Recipe, Nacho Crisp, Paneer Makhani, Palak Paneer and Dal Tadka with the haul valued at approximately 87.5 million naira,” the statement said.
The agency therefore urged consumers, especially during this festive season, to remain vigilant and report any suspicious food products to the nearest NAFDAC office for immediate action.
