The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State for his transformational leadership and reforms in the state.
This was contained in a statement issued on Saturday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Dawakin-Tofa, in Kano.
The Director General of NAFDAC, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, expressed the agency’s readiness to collaborate with the Kano State Government to strengthen public health regulation and combat the circulation of substandard and falsified medicines.
Governor Yusuf welcomed NAFDAC’s proposal for partnership and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to advancing public health and ensuring the availability of safe and effective medicines across the state.
He also commended Prof. Adeyeye’s leadership and NAFDAC’s dedication to safeguarding the health of Nigerians.
Meanwhile, the governor urged local government councils to hold regular security meetings to enhance vigilance and coordination among communities.
During a State Security Council meeting, Yusuf emphasized the importance of grassroots intelligence sharing and cooperation between communities and security agencies.
The governor identified five local government areas — Shanono, Tsanyawa, Tudun Wada, Doguwa, and Gwarzo — as requiring special attention due to emerging security threats.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the state, stressing that security remains a top priority.
