The aim of the distribution of insecticide-treated nets, launched in partnership with Global Fund and other health partners, is to reduce child mortality and high cases of malaria in Nigeria.
Speaking with our reporter on Mandela Road, Victoria Kumaorun Adugu, expressed joy over the free nets, describing them as life-saving gifts for families battling constant mosquito bites.
She explained that before now, all her nets were not in good shape, allowing mosquitos to bite her children and grandchildren, “my children always fell sick from malaria, but with these, we are now saved from malaria treatment” she said with a smile.

Aladi Simon another beneficiary and a school teacher commended the health officials for bringing the nets closer to the people. She noted that the sensitisation has enlightened even the uneducated on its proper use rather than using it to cover farm products.
A petty trader, Hauwa Sani said the distribution is a welcome relief calling on government and partners to sustain the exercise and ensure every household receives theirs.
“Walahi!! Malaria use to take plenty of our money for treatment but now we can prevent it instead of curing it”, she expounded.
The NMEP, through its 2025 campaign, plans to distribute 3.2 million mosquito nets in Niger State in 2025 with a target of achieving over 80 percent household coverage.
Officials urged residents to make proper use of the nets and continue supporting efforts to make Nigeria malaria free.
