Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, has approved the sum of N60 million for the accreditation of eight academic programmes at the College of Health Sciences and Technology, Jega.
The Provost of the College, Hussaini Aliyu, disclosed this while briefing journalists in Birnin Kebbi on Friday.
According to him, the management of the institution deeply appreciates the governor’s intervention, which he said demonstrates his commitment to revitalising tertiary education and promoting quality learning across the state.
Aliyu explained that the funds would facilitate the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) accreditation exercise, which is already in progress and nearing completion.
“Consequently, students affected by the suspension of academic activities on October 17, 2024, will soon be recalled once the accreditation process is concluded. This will enable them to continue their studies and graduate with National Diploma (ND) qualifications,” he said.
The Provost further revealed that the governor had also approved the renovation of students’ hostels as part of the accreditation requirements, aimed at improving the teaching, learning, and research environment.
“The management of the college, in collaboration with the Governing Council and the Ministry for Higher Education, remains fully committed to the governor’s vision of educational transformation and institutional excellence.
“We deeply appreciate His Excellency’s continued support and commitment to repositioning the college as a centre of excellence in health education and technology,” Aliyu said.
He reaffirmed the institution’s readiness to maintain high standards in academic delivery and professional training in the health sector.
