The Kano State Drugs and Medical Consumables Supply Agency (DMCSA) on Thursday in Kano, inaugurated pharmaceutical quality control laboratory implementation committee to oversee remodeling and upgrade of its drug manufacturing unit.
The Director-General of the Agency, Mr Gali Sule, in his remarks at the inauguration, charged the committee to ensure effectiveness and efficiency of drug production and quality control in the state.
Sule urged the committee to collaborate with regulatory agencies such as Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN) and National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) to ensure compliance with industry standards.
He also charged the committee to store facilities for external preparations, as well as to liaise with relevant stakeholders to ensure smooth and timely completion of the project.
He urged all the members to work diligently to achieve the set objectives.
Responding, the Chairman of the committee, Mr Tukur Ibrahim pledged to make Kano the first state in Nigeria to successfully implement such a large-scale pharmaceutical quality control project.
“This initiative will bring about rapid development in drug manufacturing and distribution,” he said.
