Kaduna State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery through partnerships, as the Commissioner for Health, Umma Ahmad, received a delegation from the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), funders of the Lafiya Programme.
Speaking during the engagement, Ahmad described the Lafiya Programme as pivotal in advancing the state’s health sector reforms. She listed key achievements supported by the programme, including the drive towards Universal Health Coverage, institutionalisation of the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF), establishment of the Family Health Department and the Kaduna State Centre for Disease Control, as well as the rollout of KADMAF, a platform that enhances transparency, collaboration, and data management.
“While we celebrate these milestones, we recognise persisting challenges in maternal and child health, health financing, disease control, and equitable access. This is why we continue to seek sustained and expanded support to consolidate our gains,” Ahmad said.
The Commissioner commended the FCDO for its consistent support, praising the National Lead of the Lafiya Programme, Dr. Usman Gwarzo, for leading the delegation. She also acknowledged the contributions of heads of health agencies and directors from the ministry who participated in the discussions.
According to her, Kaduna State remains committed to delivering improved health outcomes for all residents, stressing that strong partnerships are essential to achieving lasting results in the health sector.
