To fight child hunger, increase school attendance, and reduce the number of children not in school, Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has started the Zamfara State Pilot School Feeding Programme.
A statement from the Office of the Senior Special Adviser to the President on School Feeding said that the program was made possible with help from Dr. Yetunde Adeniji, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on School Feeding.
“This program is not just about giving children food—it’s also about giving them respect, helping them go to school, and fighting poverty,” Governor Lawal said.
He also praised Dr. Yetunde Adeniji for her support, saying they are proud to work together to achieve their goals.
The program is getting help from big organizations like the World Bank, UNICEF, the International Center for Economic Development, and FINPACT Development Foundation.
Dr. Yetunde Adeniji said she found children out of school in 14 local government areas in Zamfara. She promised that this pilot program would help improve education in the state.
She added, “We are making sure no child is forgotten—by feeding them, we help both their minds and bodies. This is what real change looks like. This is Renewed Hope in Action.”
