Sokoto state government has inaugurated the distribution of palliatives donated by Coalition Against COVID-19 pandemic (CACOVID), as part of its effort to complement Federal and state governments’ commitment of cushioning the effects of the global pandemic on vulnerable persons in the state.
Chairman of CACOVID committee, who is also the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Mallam Saidu Umar assured that the committee, would discharge its responsibility diligently.
Umar, who spoke in Binji and Silame local governments during the distribution of the palliative on Wednesday, said that Governor Aminu Tambuwal is committed to ensure that there will not be religious or political considerations in the distribution of the food items.
According to the chairman of the committee, 42,828 households had been earmarked to benefit from the items including rice, sugar, salt, pasta and Indomie.
He explained that the committee was divided into three with representing each of the zones.
