As the world celebrated Children’s Day, women in Minna, Niger State, gathered for a joyful and impactful event focused on enhancing maternal and child health.
Themed “Healthy Baby, Happy Mother,” the event was organized by The Big Drum Africa in collaboration with KissKids Diapers Nigeria. Held at the General Hospital, Minna, the outreach program brought together mothers, children, and healthcare professionals for a day of learning, sharing, and celebration.

The Founder of The Big Drum Africa, Darlington Eze and spokesperson for KissKids Nigeria, Williams Gbenga highlighted the event’s mission: empowering mothers with practical knowledge on diaper care, rash prevention, and the emotional well-being of both mother and child.
“It’s all about equipping mothers with the right information to raise healthy, happy children,” said Onah.
“We believe a healthy baby begins with a supported, informed mother,” added Gbenga.
Attendees participated in expert talks, live demonstrations, and interactive baby care sessions. Many received free KissKids diaper packs and expressed gratitude to the organizers for making Children’s Day both fun and informative.
A representative from the General Hospital praised the initiative, describing it as a valuable contribution to improving maternal and child health in the community.
Events like this highlight the importance of maternal wellness and its direct impact on the growth and happiness of children. As Children’s Day reminds us of the worth of every child, such initiatives ensure that both mothers and their children are cared for, supported, and celebrated.
