The Bauchi State Government has released N261.7 million out of the N872 million it approved for immunization and other primary healthcare (PHC) activities across the state.
The state’s Deputy Governor, Auwal Mohammed Jatau, disclosed this during a courtesy visit by representatives of the African Health Budget Network (AHBN) and the African Field Epidemiology Network (AFENET), who came to remind the government of its earlier commitment to fund immunization efforts.
“So far, the sum of N261,708,491 has been released to the Bauchi State Primary Health Care Development Board, as promised by the government,” Jatau said, assuring that the balance will be disbursed in due course.
The AHBN focal person in Bauchi, Dr. Hassan Shuaibu expressed appreciation for the government’s continued support for the Zero Dose Learning Hub, a project aimed at improving immunization coverage in communities with little or no access to vaccines.
Also speaking, Dr. Habila Ismaila of AFENET and Mustapha Garba commended the state government for its efforts in increasing immunization uptake in zero-dose and underserved communities.
The advocacy by the Zero Dose Learning Hub team in 2024 led to the state’s budgetary allocation of N872 million for immunization activities in 2025.
