Bauchi State has become the first among Nigeria’s zero-dose states to release 100 percent of its 2025 immunization funds, totaling ₦872.3 million.
The announcement came during the Zero-Dose Learning Hub’s third-quarter review meeting in Bauchi, where stakeholders praised the state’s commitment to tackling vaccine gaps.
The African Health Budget Network (AHBN) and partners commended Bauchi as a model, noting that 13 of its local government areas rank among Nigeria’s top 100 zero-dose LGAs.
AHBN’s State Focal Person, Dr. Hassan Shuaibu Musa, said the release followed sustained advocacy and urged the Primary Health Care Board to ensure at least 80 percent utilization while boosting Penta 3 coverage.
Convener Dr. Aminu Magashi also disclosed plans for a CSO training and conference centre in Bauchi.
Stakeholders called for stronger gender inclusion, male involvement, and community engagement to raise vaccine uptake, while journalists were urged to amplify outcomes despite challenges of data access and funding.
Meanwhile, the Aminu Garba Magashi Foundation honoured outstanding PHC staff and volunteers for their service.
