…Donates 23 Hilux vehicles to each
Sokoto state governor, Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto has ordered the 23 new local government council chairmen, to ensure they hold bi-weekly security meetings in their respective areas.
The governor gave the order after they took their oaths at the Government House Chambers on Wednesday.
Tambuwal also ordered the chairmen to always report to government, outcomes of the meetings with a view to assist in improving security situation of the state.
The governor, who also donated one new Hilux jeep to each of the 23 council chairmen to enable them discharge their duties effectively, advised them “to shun truancy, pay attention to issues of security, welfare and good governance.
“You should be just and fair in discharging your duties irresspective of religious, ethnic and political differences.
“I commend Sokoto State Independent Electoral Commission, SOSIEC, for conducting a free and fair election by using card readers. This is the second time that the state government conducted local government election with card readers,” Tambuwal said.
While thanking the people of Sokoto state for coming out en masse to vote for candidates of their choice, the governor commended traditional and religious leaders for their support and cooperation to the policies and programmes of government.
