The Department of State Services (DSS) has explained that said the interception of the former presidential adviser, Dr. Doyin Okupe at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on Thursday, was based on the watch list request by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
A statement by the Head of Media & Publicity of the Commission, Wilson Uwujaren made available to ASHENEWS said it informed the Commission of the interception of Dr. Doyin Okupe.
The DSS explained that the EFCC which had not taken action to lift the watch-list request promised to expedite action to do so.
“The Service acted on a Watch-list request issued on July 18, 2016, over six years before his recent conviction on money laundering charges by the Federal High Court, Abuja.
“The Commission was in the process of formally lifting the watch list before his interception and will expedite action in this regard,” the statement said.
