Tambuwal Premier Hospital project reaches 70% completion level, 7 months after promised date

Seven months after promising to complete one of the Tambuwal Premier Hospital, one of the three contracted to by Sokoto state government in 2020, the project has reached 70 percent completion level.

Contract for the three premier hospitals to be situated in Tambuwal, Sabon Birni and Binji to represent the three Senatorial Districts were awarded in 2021.

ASHENEWS recalls that the formal handing over of the construction site to the contracting firm, SBMC Construction took place in Tambuwal town, Tambuwal local government area of Sokoto state on Wednesday, August 12, 2022 12/08/2020.

The handing over was done in the presence of officials from the Ministry of Works, Ministry of Land and Housing, Ministry of Justice and led by the client Ministry of Health.

ASHENEWS further recalls that Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, who paid unscheduled visit to the project site on February 26, 2022, was asked when the project would be completed.

The governor directed the question to the site Engineer, Babatunde who promised it would be completed in six months from the date of the Governor’s visit.

When members of the Sokoto State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) undertook project tour to the site at Tambuwal on Monday, the Quantity Surveyor of the construction firm, Ayodele Adeosun said the project is at 70 percent completion level.

He assured that the firm will complete the project once funds were made available when due.

The journalists were led on the projects tour by the Director of Works of Tambuwal local government, Mainasara Abubakar Kilgori.

Among other projects visited were expanded administrative blocks at the School of Nursing and Midwifery, completed 60KW Solar PV mini grid,  upgraded General Hospital Tambuwal, Modern Abbatoir, 30 kilometers, etc.

The Vice Chairman of NUJ, Abbas Tukur who led the journalists, commended the state government for the projects.

He also called on the state government to make funds available for contractors handling different projects in the area for timely completion of all the ongoing projects.
