Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, who is also the President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), has urged security agencies to deal decisively with criminals, regardless of their religion or ethnic background.
Speaking at the 10th General Assembly of the Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN), held at the Bola Babalakin Auditorium in Gbongan, Osun State, the Sultan called for unity among Nigerians, warning against attempts by external forces to sow division.
He condemned the killings carried out by terrorists and bandits across the country, stressing that such acts have nothing to do with religion.
According to him, “There have been a lot of talks about genocide, but I’ve said it repeatedly: I have never seen or heard of a Christian being denied their right to worship. We are living in harmony, and we will not allow anyone to come and divide us. We should not judge people; what we can do is to strive to be the best we can be. Those killing people are not Muslims but criminals, and I want to urge security operatives to apprehend and deal decisively with criminals, irrespective of their religion or tribe.”

The Sultan also urged Nigerians to pray for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other leaders so they can effectively discharge their responsibilities. He commended MUSWEN for promoting unity and dialogue among Muslims in the Southwest and encouraged other zones to emulate their efforts.
During the event, 12 medical students from the six Southwest states received scholarships under the Sultan Abubakar Female Medical Students Scholarship Scheme.
